Assassin’s Creed Mirage: The Sand-Swept Adventure is Coming!
With an impressive lineup of 11 projects in development, Ubisoft is going all-in on Assassin’s Creed. From mobile games to VR titles, RPGs, and live-service platforms, they’re exploring every corner of the Assassin’s Creed universe. And leading the charge is Assassin’s Creed Mirage, an action-adventure game that’s taking the series back to its roots.
Set in 9th century Baghdad, Assassin’s Creed Mirage invites players to join the initial adventures of Basim Ibn Ishaq, a member of the Assassin Order (Hidden Ones at the time). While it may be smaller in scale compared to recent entries in the franchise, Mirage still retains some of the light RPG elements from games like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla. And where there are RPG mechanics, there are usually complicated menus. Fortunately, Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s menu UI looks like it’s learned from others’ mistakes and promises a smoother experience.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage’s UI Outshines Destiny 2-Like Loadouts
In the ever-evolving gaming industry, trends come and go, and creators often scramble to replicate success. One prevailing trend today is the live-service model, popularized by MMOs like World of Warcraft and games like Destiny. As developers strive to bring their own games to market, they often borrow elements from past successes, leading to an influx of Destiny 2-inspired UIs.
Destiny 2, an undeniable pioneer of the modern live-service model, has inspired numerous copycats over the years. Its menu UI, featuring a character-centric layout with various equipment boxes, offers simplicity and functionality that perfectly suit the game’s clean Sci-Fi aesthetic. However, when the exact same UI is transplanted into other games like Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, it loses its charm. The dark and dull Destiny-inspired menu clashes with the bright and colorful worlds of these games, leaving players wanting more.
But fear not, Assassin’s Creed Mirage breaks the mold and delivers a menu UI that captures the essence of the game. Mirroring Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s UI, which drew inspiration from Destiny 2’s character screen, Mirage adds its own visual flair. The sandy setting of Mirage is reflected in the light, yellowish background of the menu UI, creating a cohesive and visually appealing experience. Unlike its counterparts, like Gotham Knights and Suicide Squad, Mirage successfully makes its UI stand out and pays homage to Basim’s roots.
