Sniper rifles in Cyberpunk 2077 are no joke. With one well-placed headshot, even the most basic rifle can take down a target in a single shot. And if you’re lucky enough to get your hands on a fully upgraded one, you can delete even the toughest enemies in the game’s hardest difficulty mode. But using sniper rifles effectively isn’t as simple as just aiming and shooting. There are challenges and risks involved, but fear not! This sniper build guide will help you fulfill your one-shot-kill fantasy while minimizing the dangers.
Building Your Sniper

To create an effective sniper build, you need to focus on certain core skills. Here’s a table of recommended skills to invest in:
Assault | Core Skills | Points |
---|---|---|
Bullet Jock | 3 | |
Nerves of Steel | 2 | |
Bullseye | 1 | |
Named Bullets | 1 | |
Executioner | 1 | |
Trench Warfare | 2 | |
Covering Killshot | 2 | |
Savage Stoic | 1 | |
Long Shot | 1 | |
Punisher | 1 | |
Ninjutsu | ||
Silent and Deadly | 1 | |
Assassin | 1 |
These passive skills are the bare minimum you’ll need for an effective sniper build. But don’t stop there! Dump more points into the Assault tree to enhance the overall feel of sniper rifles by reducing recoil, reload times, and aim down sights speeds. It’s also a good idea to invest heavily in the Reflexes attribute to unlock high-tier Assault skills. Additionally, putting some points into the Cool and Body attributes will provide additional benefits.
This build heavily encourages taking cover and shooting enemies from a distance. Sniping on the move or in close-quarters combat won’t be as effective. But don’t worry, the Assault tree’s skills also apply to assault rifles and SMGs, giving you powerful backup weapons for close-range encounters.
Recommended Weapons

Any sniper rifle can work well with this build, but the Overwatch iconic sniper rifle is a standout option. It comes with a custom silencer that synergizes with more Ninjutsu perks, making it even deadlier. To get the Overwatch, complete the Riders of the Storm quest from Panam. It has a hefty 10 Body requirement to unlock its maximum potential.

Another excellent choice is the Widow Maker Precision Rifle, which serves as your medium-range option for tighter fights. You can get it by completing the Ghost Town quest with Panam. As for your third weapon slot, any SMG will do as long as you can effectively use it up close.
When it comes to mods, use Crunch to further increase the already-massive base damage of sniper rifles. Crit damage boosters are also welcome, but make sure you have enough crit chance (at least 40%) to make them worth it.
Cyberware Enhancements

For cyberware, Dynalar’s Sandevistans are a great choice. They slow down time, making it easier to line up your shots, and they also increase damage by up to 15% when activated.
The Trajectory Analysis Ocular implants are must-haves for precision builds. They provide a sGameTopicificant boost to headshot damage. You can buy them from Victor Vektor in Little China, but you’ll need to pay off V’s $21,000 debt first.
For the remaining cyberware slots, choose whatever works best for the situation. Implants that increase critical strike stats or grant immunity to status effects are always helpful. And don’t forget to consider getting the Double Jump augmentation, as it will make it easier for you to reach advantageous vantage points.
Get Ready to Snipe!
With this sniper build, you’ll be ready to take on enemies with style in Cyberpunk 2077. Remember to find cover, take your time lining up your shots, and enjoy the satisfaction of seeing your targets go down with a single, well-placed headshot.
Happy sniping!
