You’ll be spending most of your time underwater in Dave The Diver. Prepare yourself for an underwater adventure filled with plenty of fish species just waiting to be captured. In the beginning, every fish you capture can be sold or used as an ingredient for the Sushi restaurant. But eventually, the game will throw a challenge your way when Udo asks you to capture a specific fish.

This exciting feature is only unlocked once you reach a certain part of the main quest and take a bunch of pictures for the NPC. One such special fish is the Humphead/Horned Parrotfish, which can only be found when you receive a task to capture it in FishMon.
How To Find Horned Parrotfish
To embark on your search for the elusive Horned Parrotfish, you must first unlock the FishMon app. This can be done by reaching the sixth chapter of Dave The Diver and taking a bunch of pictures for Udo. Eventually, one morning, the NPC will visit your boat and inform you that you can catch a special fish every Saturday using FishMon.
The Horned Parrotfish will be the first of these fish, and it can be found near a shipwreck. Now, don’t be fooled into thinking it’s the yellow ship you’ve been asked to travel to. To find the Parrotfish, dive underwater during the morning or afternoon and swim all the way to the right.

Descend to a depth of around 26 meters, and there you’ll find the Horned Parrotfish swimming near a white shipwreck. As you approach, the device given by Udo will start beeping, signaling that you’re in the right area.
How To Capture Horned Parrotfish
Now, capturing the Horned Parrotfish is no easy task. It has a unique trait – a horn crown that protects it from attacks from the front. As soon as you get close, it’ll aggro on you and start attacking in small intervals. Every few seconds, the fish will dash towards your current location. Be quick to avoid its dash by moving up or down, and then attack it from behind.
But here’s the catch – you need to capture the fish alive! To achieve this, you’ll need one of the following items:
- You can try upgrading your Hush Dart to the maximum level and taking it down to the fish. However, there’s a chance it won’t be tranquilized.
- The Basic Underwater Rifle also has an upgrade that can transform it into a Tranquilizer Rifle. Using this upgraded rifle gives you a 40 percent chance of putting the target to sleep with each bullet. It’s your best bet against the Horned Parrotfish.
- Lastly, you can get lucky and find the Tranquilizer Harpoon in one of the weapon chests during your adventure. Unlike normal Parrotfish, this one won’t struggle when you shoot a Harpoon at it. It’ll react as if you’re shooting the Poon at a large fish.
Once you’ve successfully put the fish to sleep using any of these methods, simply get close to it and press the button shown on the screen to add it to your inventory. Fortunately, you won’t need a Salvage Drone to transport this fish back to the boat alive.
