Aside from the awesome Bancho Sushi restaurant, there are plenty of exciting activities waiting for you on the surface. Just keep in mind that most of these activities unlock as you progress through the story.

And what are these surface activities, you may ask? These precious ingredients will then be used to create mouthwatering dishes at Bancho Sushi. Get ready to become a farm manager and a master chef all at once!

How To Unlock The Fish Farm

Dave The Diver - Otto at Bancho Sushi

The Fish Farm is the first farm you’ll unlock in Dave The Diver, but it won’t come easy. You’ll have to progress quite far in the main story to gain access to it. As you learn more about the Sea People, you’ll encounter two mysterious figures venturing deeper into the ocean. If you want to join them on their underwater adventure, you’ll need a special underwater light from Duff.

To obtain the underwater light, Duff will first ask you to locate a yellow shipwreck and fetch the pink chest from it. Inside the chest, you’ll find Leahs-Chan’s figurine, but be prepared to face a colossal monster in a battle for this treasure! Once you’ve triumphed over the monster, the flashlight will be yours. This will not only allow you to explore deeper waters but also kickstart your journey towards unlocking farms.

After acquiring the flashlight, a quest called “A Noisy Customer” will be triggered on one of the nights. Meet Otto, the quirky character at the restaurant, who will have a curious request for you. He’ll ask you to prepare a specific dish called Moray Eel Curry. Don’t worry, here are the two ingredients you’ll need:

Dish Ingredient How to Obtain
Moray Eel After conversing with Otto, you’ll be able to dive once at the start of every night. Keep an eye out for Moray Eels in the water. They might not be the friendliest creatures, but with a few whacks, you can catch them just like regular fish. They’re tough, so give ’em a good beating!
Turmeric You can obtain Turmeric in two ways: randomly by opening Cooking Pots underwater or by dispatching extra staff members. Luckily, you only need one Turmeric for this dish.

Once you’ve gathered the required ingredients, add Moray Eel Curry to the menu at Bancho Sushi. Bancho will take charge and prepare it promptly. Serve the dish to Otto and brace yourself for what comes next. On the following day, Otto will invite you to the empty lot behind the restaurant and unlock the Fish Farm just for you.

Dave The Diver - Fish Farm

The Fish Farm consists of nine slots at different depths. Each time you catch a fish, there’s a chance you’ll obtain a Fish egg, which will automatically be transported to the farm. If you have two or more fish of the same type in a tank, they’ll start multiplying daily. It’s like having your very own fishy family!

But beware, as more fish accumulate in a tank, the density will increase. Once the density reaches a certain level, you won’t be able to add more fish. So, make it a habit to visit the farm every day and check on each tank. Keep an eye on the density level, indicated by a red background. If it’s getting too crowded, you’ll need to remove some fish.

You have a couple of options when it comes to the fish you decide to remove:

  • You can sell them directly from the information screen and collect the respective money.
  • Alternatively, you can transport them to the Sushi restaurant, where they’ll become ingredients for the menu. Plus, you can also sell fish and other ingredients directly from the restaurant.

How To Unlock Rice And Vegetable Farm

Dave The Diver - Vegetable Farm

As you progress further in the main story, you’ll eventually arrive at the Sea People Village. Here, the king will urge you to build trust with other villagers. The next day, before embarking on your trust-building expedition, a VIP named Michael Bang will grace Bancho Sushi with his presence.

To impress Michael Bang, he’ll challenge you to prepare a dish that requires specific ingredients. Once he departs, Otto will approach you and ask you to visit a designated area the following day. There, you’ll find the rice farm in a pool on the left side. At first, you’ll have five rice crops in the pool, but you can expand it by visiting Otto’s Shop.

Stay alert because some crops may wither randomly, and you must remove them promptly. Once planted, the crops take around two days to grow fully, producing multiple servings of White Rice from each. On the right side of the farm, you’ll notice some patches, but they’ll unlock a little later when another VIP, Sammy, pays a visit to the restaurant.

When the first patch is unlocked, you can purchase seeds from Otto and bring them to life in these patches. But beware! You’ll need to water and weed these patches diligently until you obtain certain upgrades. Also, unlocking the other three patches requires further progress in the story.

How To Unlock Seaweed Farm

Dave The Diver - Seaweed Farm

To unlock the final farm in Dave The Diver, you must already have the rice farm and reach the Sea People village. In the village, an NPC named Kazhin will present you with a quest to retrieve a particular book from the temple. After delivering the book to Kazhin, he’ll reward you with a Seaweed Seed. Your next task is to find the farmer, Gumo, in the village and offer him the special dish made with Seaweed.

This dish calls for Purple Sea Urchin, Rice, and Seaweed. Once you’ve managed to gather all the ingredients, present the dish to Gumo. The following day, Gumo will open the Seaweed Farm for you. Get excited because this farm works differently! After planting different Seaweed seeds obtained from Kazhin’s shop, they’ll grow automatically in a few days, depending on the type of Seaweed.

The Seaweed Farm is a breeze to manage compared to the others. You won’t need to tend to it constantly like a helicopter parent. Simply plant the seeds and let nature take its course. Plus, finding Seaweed while diving can be quite challenging, as it tends to blend in with the surroundings. So, rejoice in the fact that you’ll have a farm that takes care of itself!

Once you’ve unlocked all the farms, it’s highly recommended to check on them at least once in the morning or afternoon. Oh, and don’t forget that the only farm you can remotely monitor with the FarmNow app is the Vegetable farm. Stay on top of your farming game!
