Destiny 2’s Solstice Event: A Comedy of Errors
Destiny 2’s Solstice of 2023 event has arrived, and oh boy, the reception hasn’t exactly been glowing. The community is up in arms, criticizing Bungie left and right for their handling of the game. It’s like watching a fiery explosion in slow motion, except the explosion doesn’t look as cool as you’d hope. Talk about a party pooper.
Now, don’t get me wrong, there are some things to enjoy in this event. You know, collecting new armor pieces and cosmetic goodies for those fashion-forward Guardians. But it seems like a lot of players are struggling to find reasons to dive back into the game, even with all the celebration going on. It’s a real buzzkill, and some folks have decided to sit this one out and wait for the next year’s Final Shape DLC. Ouch.
You’d think Bungie would learn from their past mistakes, but apparently not. The Lightfall DLC left players feeling a bit underwhelmed, and now Destiny 2 is paying the price. The latest Solstice event is getting roasted like marshmallows at a failed camping trip. Players are unleashing their disappointment, dubbing Solstice 2023 “another L” for Bungie. Burn, baby, burn.
One of the main gripes seems to be the replacement of the beloved European Aerial Zone with the not-so-thrilling Bonfire Bash. It’s like swapping a thrilling roller coaster for a kiddie ride that goes in circles. Not exactly an upgrade. And let’s not forget about those shiny new shaders. Surprise, surprise, they’re locked behind microtransactions once again. Bungie must have a PhD in squeezing every last penny out of its players.
To add insult to injury, even the new Crowning Duologue rocket launcher is a bit of a mess. Its perks don’t exactly play nicely with each other, like a band of misfits trying to perform a synchronized dance routine. It’s a hot mess, and players are making sure Bungie hears about it loud and clear. If laughter is the best medicine, Bungie must be getting a healthy dose of it from the community.
But wait, there’s more! Bungie has decided to turn down the volume on their communication with the community due to some unruly behavior. They’re taking a step back and going radio silent, which is like throwing fuel on the flames of discontent. It’s not doing the game any favors, that’s for sure.
So, there you have it. Destiny 2’s Solstice of 2023 event is not exactly the party we were hoping for. But hey, at least we can still enjoy the game on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. Let’s hope Bungie learns from this comedy of errors and comes back swinging in the next installment.
