Even though the main storyline of Disney Dreamlight Valley has reached its conclusion, the game is not over yet. Gameloft has exciting plans to update this game regularly, bringing in new features and characters. And guess what? A new story is set to begin in late 2023!
But for now, let’s take a look at what Disney Dreamlight Valley players can enjoy. In addition to the DreamSnap Challenge, you have the opportunity to add a new character to your village roster. And who might that be? It’s none other than Vanellope from the beloved Wreck-It-Ralph series. So, here’s how you can unlock her and have a glitch-tastic time!
Talk to Scrooge
To begin your quest to unlock Vanellope, find Scrooge McDuck and have a chat with him. Rumor has it that he spotted a mischievous ghost at the castle near the fountain. Scrooge asks for your help in investigating this paranormal occurrence, thus starting the quest “The Haunting of Dreamlight Valley.”
Head up to the top floor of the castle, where you’ll witness Vanellope glitching out. It seems she mysteriously ended up in Dreamlight Valley, causing her to glitch more than ever. To assist her, you’ll need to capture a photo and participate in the DreamSnaps Challenge. This concludes the current quest and kicks off the next one, “Faith, Trust, and Pixel Dust.”
How to Participate in the DreamSnaps Challenge
On the Event page, you’ll find a new section called DreamSnaps, located below the current Star Path. The duration of the challenge may vary, but the objectives will change over time.

DreamSnaps works like this: you must decorate an area of your valley using furniture with specific tags specified by the challenge. Currently, the mandatory tags are as follows:
- Playful (x5)
- Familiar (x5)
Don’t worry; the game suggests styles to help you understand what you need to use. For this challenge, Modern and Wreck-It-Ralph are recommended. The image above shows examples of items that meet the criteria for progressing in this quest. You can filter furniture by Universe and associated tags to make your search easier.
Here’s some good news: you don’t have to win the DreamSnap challenge to continue your quest. When taking a selfie, you’ll have the option to submit the photo for the DreamSnap Challenge. Once you’re satisfied with the image and have submitted it, your quest will update.
Return to Vanellope
While having a conversation with Vanellope, she breaks the fourth wall and confirms the existence of other Dreamlight Valleys (AKA other players). But she needs your help to anchor herself to this Dreamlight Valley. How? By providing her with a beacon, which is basically her house.
The best part is that you don’t have to craft the “beacon.” All you have to do is build Vanellope’s house. Find a perfect spot outside the castle, and it will only cost you 4,000 Star Coins to create her glitchy abode. And don’t worry; earning Star Coins won’t take long. Once the house is complete, go ahead and talk to Vanellope to complete the quest.
Remember, Disney Dreamlight Valley is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. So, grab your controller and dive into the magical world of Dreamlight Valley!
