Arcade Gannon: Picture this – a companion who can rock Power Armor like a boss. That’s Arcade for you. Armed with a ranged energy weapon, this versatile warrior will have your back in any combat situation. And guess what? His unique perk increases your healing from consumables. Now that’s a sweet deal!
Boone: Many Fallout veterans consider Boone overpowered, and for a good reason. This NCR loyalist and crack-shot sniper can be recruited early on and is deadly at any distance. But that’s not all. Boone’s companion perk highlights enemies when you aim-down-sights, making your life much easier in the wasteland.
ED-E: Now, here’s a companion you definitely want by your side. ED-E is not just a powerful ally in combat; it’s your mobile Swiss Army Knife. With the Lonesome Road expansion, this little bot can provide you with a mobile Workbench, Reloading Bench, repairing services, and even free energy weapon ammo. Oh, and did we mention you can upgrade ED-E’s weapon or armor? Talk about a handy companion!

Raul: Okay, so Raul might not be the most combat-effective companion out there, but he’s got other tricks up his sleeve. His companion perk reduces gear durability loss by a whopping 75%, making your equipment last longer. Plus, when he’s not adventuring with you, he can still repair your gear. Now, that’s a buddy you can count on!
Veronica: Brace yourself for some serious Power Fist action! Veronica is a real powerhouse in combat, armed with her trusty Power Armor and Power Fist weapon. But she offers more than just brute strength. With her help, you can gain access to the elusive Brotherhood of Steel chapter. However, be aware that other companions might outshine her eventually. Her companion perk grants a mobile workbench, but guess what? ED-E has that covered, along with plenty of other nifty resources.
In the B-Tier, We Have…

- Rex
Lily: Lily shares a similar fate with Veronica, being more focused on melee combat. However, her close-range fighting style often makes her a useful meat-shield, allowing you to stay at a safe distance. Her companion perk extends the duration of Stealth-Boys, but you can achieve the same effect for all Chem items with specific perks. Still, having a tough old grannie in your corner can’t hurt!
Rex: Besides ED-E, Rex is the only companion that can join you alongside another companion. That’s a handy perk right there. Rex’s companion perk highlights containers with valuable items when you aim-down-sights. While there’s nothing particularly bad about Rex, there are other companions who offer more utility and power in the long run. But hey, he’s still a good boy!
And Finally, the C-Tier Champ…
- Cass
Cass: Ah, Cass. A companion with a bit of a downside. Her companion perk is temporary and situational compared to the others. It grants increased benefits and removes the negative effects of alcohol consumption. While that might come in handy occasionally, it’s not as game-changing as other companions’ perks.
