PlayStation Plus Says Sayonara to the Yakuza Trio

Sony has dropped the megaton news that the first three Yakuza games – Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2 – will be bidding farewell to the PlayStation Plus Games Catalogue. It’s time to grab your tissues and prepare for an emotional goodbye!

Remember that dreaded feeling of missing out on something awesome? Well, it’s about to hit you right in the gaming gut. The PlayStation 5’s Last Chance to Play section recently got a makeover, revealing ten games that will be waving goodbye on August 15th. Cue the sobbing: Borderlands 3, Nidhogg, DCL – The Game, GRIP, The Crew 2, 8-Bit Armies, Carmageddon: Max Damage, and yes, those oh-so-beloved Yakuza games.

Now, don’t start panicking just yet. We’re not sure if the remaining Yakuza games, from Yakuza 3 through Yakuza: Like a Dragon, will be following suit and disappearing from the PS Plus Games Catalogue. Sony is making us all sweat with anticipation as they play keep-it-a-secret, but let’s hope they keep the Yakuza fun rolling!

We’re hitting a milestone here, folks. August will mark the one-year anniversary since the introduction of the first three games to the service. Time flies when you’re kicking virtual butt and immersing yourself in gripping Yakuza storytelling. Oh, and a little side note: Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the newest addition to the series, was brought on board with the OG trio but gets to stay for now. Phew!

Now, let’s talk reviews. Our friends at GameTopic gave Yakuza 0, the prequel that set our souls on fire, a spectacular 8/10. Yakuza Kiwami, the remake of the original masterpiece, strutted in with a respectable 7/10, while Kiwami 2 stepped up the game with another 8/10. And let’s not forget about the newest player in town, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. It earned itself a solid 7/10 after shaking things up and changing the series’ name in the west. Feeling the heat yet?

Hold up, folks! We’ve got an insider here. Our very own GameTopic freelance reporter, Ryan Dinsdale, is ready to spill the beans. If you’re itching to hear about The Witcher or chat gaming all day long, he’s your guy. Just don’t ask him to pronounce “Yennefer” correctly. Trust us, it’s a struggle.

So, grab your PlayStation controllers, cherish your remaining Yakuza moments, and get ready for some emotional goodbyes – because this is one party you won’t want to miss. And if you need a shoulder to cry on, well, at least you know Ryan has your back!
