Daniel Radcliffe, who now earns a living as Weird Al’s doppelganger, might not be in a hurry to put on his Harry Potter glasses again, but Oliver and James Phelps have a different take on the matter. The mischievous duo, who brought Fred and George Weasley to life, spilled the beans to The New York Post, saying, “I suppose so. It’s one of those things where it’s never really a chapter closed in your life… Whether as our characters, that’s a totally different thing – we’re not quite looking like high schoolers anymore! If it does happen, we only know as much as you do. But, it’s nice that there’s a lot of intrigue around the show.”
Now, as much as we would love to see the Weasley twins rock the halls of Hogwarts once again, there are a few obstacles in the way. Unfortunately, James Phelps played the ill-fated Fred, who became one of the tragic casualties during The Battle of Hogwarts. It’s not easy to revive a character who met such an unfortunate demise. And let’s be real, the streaming platform behind the reboot is probably scouting for fresh faces and youthful energy. So, if the Phelps twins do return, it might just be in a dream sequence or as completely different characters. Marvel has shown us that fans are willing to embrace surprising cameos as long as they touch our hearts, so who knows what might happen?
But here’s the question that’s been buzzing around Diagon Alley: does the Harry Potter franchise even need a reboot? Many fans believe that it’s a bit too soon for Max to wave its wand and bring back the magic. The original film series, which ended just over a decade ago, was a beloved and faithful adaptation of the books. It almost feels disrespectful to recreate something that meant so much to book readers. And let’s not forget the looming presence of J.K. Rowling amidst her ongoing controversies. With her involvement as executive producer, the franchise might ignite some mixed feelings among fans.
At the end of the day, no one can deny the charm of the iconic characters in the Harry Potter universe. Whether they return or not, the wizarding world will always have a special place in our hearts.
