The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom – Kyokugon Shrine Guide

There aren’t a plethora of larger dungeons in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but that doesn’t mean the game has a shortage of puzzles to solve and areas to explore. Tears of the Kingdom’s hundreds of shrines offer more than enough tests that let you show off your skills at completing missions and finding secrets.
Where To Find Kyokugon Shrine
The Kyokugon Shrine can be a frustrating shrine to find despite the fact that it’s not hidden all that well. The issue is that its location is directly beneath the spot many people often think it should be.
This shrine is beneath the Great Plateau, but you cannot access it from the plateau itself. Instead, you need to follow the trails at the bottom and outside the plateau to find a cave entrance blocked by a cluster of boulders. These rocks cover the Great Plateau Foothill Cave, which is where the Kyokugon shrine rests.
The exact coordinates for the cave’s entrance are -0834, -1485, 0026.
Once you find the rocks that cover the entrance, destroy them with any preferred method. This could be bombs, bomb arrows, or Yunobo’s power. Past those rocks are another series of rocks. Use your demolition skills again to break past these as well.

On the other side, you’ll find a White Horriblin and a Black Horriblin crawling around on the cave’s ceiling. You can GameTopicore them or fight them, but it’s best to take them down so they can’t annoy you as you explore the cave. Use arrows to knock them down from the ceiling before finishing them off with your melee weapons.
Before venturing deeper into the cave, look to your right to spot a cluster of blue boulders. These take more work to destroy than the regular ones, but the reward for breaking them is finding one of the elusive Bubbulfrogs and its Bubbul Gem. Defeat the frog and grab its gem before continuing to the back of the cave.
There is another wall of breakable stones between you and the back of the cave. Again (again), break the stones to reach the next area. This wall is made of gray stones, which are even more durable than the blue ones, so be ready to use a number of bombs or even multiple melee weapons to get through them.
When you reach the other side, you finally discover the Kyokugon Shrine.
How To Solve The Kyokugon Shrine

Kyokugon might seem elaborate at first, but its puzzle is actually straightforward once you understand the clues presented. The shrine’s puzzle is called “AlGameTopicment of the Circles” and requires you to set glowing orbs in specific locations.
When you enter the shrine, you’ll find a large, open area with ten ports for the orbs. The ports are grouped into three main sections:
- Four ports in a diamond-shaped pattern in the middle of the room.
- Three ports in a vertical, zigzag pattern on the left side of the room.
- Three ports in a vertical, zigzag pattern on the right side of the room.
However, there are only four orbs in the room. What you need to do is place the orbs in the correct ports. How can you know what the correct ports are? By looking up. If you look at the shrine’s ceiling, you’ll find glowing green rings on it in specific areas. These rings are directly above the ports you need to use.
| Room Section | The correct ports you need. |
|---|---|
| Center Section | The right-side port in the diamond pattern. |
| Left Side Section | The middle port and the north-most port. |
| Right Side Section | The north-most port. |
The orbs are all identical, so you don’t need to worry about their order. Just make sure you place them in the correct ports.
Once you’ve placed the last orb in the final port, the door at the north end of the shrine will open. Bingo! Now you can enter the next room, which contains both the Light of Blessing and the puzzle to collect the shrine’s optional treasure.
How To Find Kyokugon Shrine’s Treasure

Before heading to the altar to grab the Light of Blessing, look to your right. You’ll see another locked door and another orb beside it. There’s a port for that orb around here somewhere.
Turn and look to the left side of this room. At first, it will seem like nothing’s there, but look up again. There is another set of green rings on the ceiling, and they’re overtop the floor on the left side of the room.
Head over to the left side of the room and activate Ultrahand. With Ultrahand active, you’ll see that one of the floor tiles is glowing, which means you can move it. Pick it up and set it aside to find a small orb port that was hidden beneath it.
Set the orb in the port to make the door unlock. On the other side of that door, you’ll find a chest that contains a Hearty Elixir.
Now that you have everything this shrine has to offer, activate the glowing icon on the altar to complete the shrine and earn your Light of Blessing.
