In a recent announcement on the Neopets Team’s Medium site, they spilled the beans about the change in leadership and the exciting future of Neopia. Say goodbye to the metaverse because they’re focusing on something even better—a mobile app and a rejuvenated Neopets.com site.
“We are on the precipice of a new era,” the announcement shouted joyfully. And let me tell you, they’ve got some brontosaurus-sized plans to celebrate Neopets’ upcoming 25th anniversary next year. Brace yourselves for a relaunch of Island Builders, an exclusive virtual concert, and hold on tight… a brand new plot! Yes, you read that correctly—new adventures await!
Back in the early 2000s, Neopets was the place to be. Flash mini-games, adorable pets to collect, and even egg-related currencies—it had it all. And if you dug a little deeper, you’d uncover an epic tale of faeries, wizards, and mysterious obelisks. Talk about a hidden gem!

Over time, our beloved site faced some hiccups too. The Flash games were on strike, security and UI issues popped up, and things weren’t looking so rosy. But fear not! The Neopets Team has a plan. They’re launching a new website on July 20, complete with a nifty emulator called Ruffle to bring back the old games we love. And that’s not all! They’re also cooking up a social life-simulation mobile game called World of Neopets. No cryptos or NFTs, just pure Neopian fun!
Let’s travel back in time for a minute. Neopets was once scooped up by Viacom in 2005, then handed over to JumpStart. Eventually, NetDragon swooped in and nearly ended our Neopian adventures. Luckily, a management buyout put the Neopets Team back in charge, and here we are, eagerly awaiting the new site launch.
