Oxenfree 2: Choosing the Right Path for the Ending

Oxenfree 2: Lost SGameTopicals – A Guide to Choosing Your Adventure

In Oxenfree 2: Lost SGameTopicals, your choices matter more than just deciding what snarky remark Riley makes. You’ll be making decisions that can change the lives of the characters around her and even determine the game’s ending. Not all choices are created equal, but plenty of them can have a significant impact.

Luckily, Oxenfree 2 makes it easy to navigate the consequences of your decisions. The game keeps track of player choices and presents them in a nifty little box of memories at the end. You can see a breakdown of how many players chose each ending, but it doesn’t explain all the options or show the endings for optional characters. That’s where this guide comes in handy, breaking down the choices and their effects on the epilogue box.

Radio Contacts – Who Will You Connect With?

Evelyn

Players can meet five contacts through walkie-talkie channels, and each of them has their own story to complete.

Evelyn

The first contact is Evelyn, the research partner who initiates the game. After setting up the first transmitter and closing the portal with Jacob, Evelyn asks Riley to reach out to her whenever she sets up future transmitters. Make sure to oblige and follow through to see what happens to Evelyn.

Maria

Maria is a teenage DJ running an advice line on the radio. You can find her station and tune in to the right walkie-talkie channel to chat with her. She provides insights into the three teens who caused all the trouble. Keep talking to her whenever possible, and she’ll eventually ask for dating advice. Choose any response you like, and make sure to tune in to her radio show when she asks. Listen to it all the way through to complete her story.

Nick

Players will encounter Nick after receiving a mysterious message in the Waterhead Bluffs area. Look for his blue backpack in the fishing cabin nearby. After that, you can have conversations with Nick at regular intervals. If you talk to him enough times, he’ll encounter a portal. You can either tell him how to open it or advise him to stay away. Either choice will end his story, and his dog tags will appear in the epilogue box. If you haven’t reached the end of Nick’s story before heading to Edwards Island, wander between areas a few times to trigger more conversations with him.

Shelley

To contact Shelley the ranger, redial the phone in the ranger station at Point Tilia. Shelley has plenty to say about each area, but the crucial moment comes when you need to reach the community center. Take the highway from Copper Creek to Uptown Harbor instead of the trail. You’ll come across a ringing public payphone by Funnie’s. Listen to the message, then contact Shelley and advise her to heed the warning or GameTopicore it.

Hank

Hank is a fellow supernatural investigator who has set up equipment in Garland. You must talk to him to solve the Garland portal puzzle, but you don’t have to help him out. To assist Hank, set the portal to the year 1930 and speak to the man on the other side. Don’t forget to reenter the cave in Horseshoe Beach and collect the shoe after solving the ghost child’s riddle. Take this shoe to the Garland Post Office and follow Hank’s instructions to complete his story.

The Teens – Choose Your Friends Wisely

Teens

Players have the opportunity to befriend each of the three teens who opened the original portal. Riley can have conversations with all of them, but three particular moments determine the level of friendship or hostility between them in future encounters. Their ultimate endings may also depend on who you choose in a critical moment, but we won’t spoil that just yet.

Violet

For Violet, the crucial moment comes after solving the possession event in Charity Point. She’s had enough and just wants to go home. So, avoid keeping her engaged for too long and give her precise directions to get back to town.

Charlie

The critical moment for Charlie is when Jacob is about to confront him physically. To befriend Charlie, stop talking and walk right up to Jacob. You should see an interaction option called “Stop Jacob.” Choose it to resolve the situation without any violence.

Olivia

Befriending Olivia is a bit more complicated, but it boils down to a single moment. After the gravity sequence at the community center, Riley will have Olivia’s radio in her hand. Breaking it will make a future sequence easier, but keeping it will make Olivia more friendly.

Jacob – Your Partner’s Fate

Jacob

Jacob, Riley’s partner, also has multiple possible endings. You can choose to befriend Jacob or keep your distance throughout the game, which can shape his outlook. The choices with the most impact are when you encourage his creativity and help him focus on the future rather than dwelling on the past. Discouraging him or staying silent during these moments will keep Jacob the way he is.

Jacob can also be part of the final choice. You can convince him to stay behind for the last trip to Edwards Island. His role in the final decision depends on whether he accompanies you and his current outlook.

Explore All the Endings

With the teens alone, there are eight possible endings. However, most of them vary only slightly based on which teens Riley befriends and Olivia’s fate. By playing the game three times, you can experience most of the endings Oxenfree 2 has to offer.
