Predicting Pokemon Legends Unova’s Starters

Predicting Pokemon Legends Unova's Starters

The Exciting Speculation of a Pokemon Legends Sequel

After the stellar success of the revolutionary game, Pokemon Legends: Arceus, it’s all but confirmed that another game with a similar style is in the works. And if recent leaks and rumors are anything to go by, it might just take us back to the Gen 5 region of Unova! Imagine exploring a past version of Unova, encountering never-before-seen forms of Pokemon, and getting to choose your starter from a diverse range of options. Now that’s what I call a sequel worth waiting for!

In Pokemon Legends: Arceus, players were transported to an ancient version of Sinnoh called Hisui. They had the thrilling choice of three starters belonging to different generations – the mighty Cyndaquil from Gen 2, the adorable Oshawott from Gen 5, and the mischievous Rowlet from Gen 7. Not only that, but each of these starters also received a unique Hisuian Form during their evolutionary journey, gaining new designs and types that made them stand out in the Hisui Region. Sounds exciting, right? But if the sequel takes us to Unova, we won’t be seeing the Gen 5 starters. So, the question begs: which Pokemon will be our trusty companions this time?

Pokemon Legends: Arceus Starters

Let’s rule out Snivy, Tepig, and Oshawott right off the bat. Since Pokemon Legends: Arceus already featured Oshawott as a starter, it’s unlikely that we’ll see any of these Gen 5 starters in the Unova-themed sequel. We can also safely assume that starters from Gen 2 and Gen 7 won’t be making a return, as they had their moments in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. It’s a shame to say goodbye to the iconic Gen 1 starters, but including only one of them would overshadow the other starters from different generations.

So, that leaves us with starters from Generations 3, 4, 6, 8, and 9. Considering the recent appearance of Gen 9 starters in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet, it’s unlikely that they’ll be included. That narrows it down to three generations. And since it’s improbable that two starters from the same generation will be chosen, we can expect a Grass type, a Fire type, and a Water type from any combination of these generations to form the starter trio for the Unova-themed sequel.

Given these restrictions, my bet for the starter trio in the Unova-themed sequel would be Torchic from Gen 3, Turtwig from Gen 4, and Froakie from Gen 6. This mix of Pokemon represents a delightful variety of designs, with both bipedal and quadrupedal critters. Plus, they have the potential to receive new types in their regional final evolutions, all while fitting perfectly into the classic Pokemon starter type triangle. It’s worth noting that both Blaziken and Greninja have received special forms in the past, like Mega Blaziken and Ash-Greninja, so giving them Unovan Forms would certainly push the representation in their favor.

Despite this minor flaw, these three starters would undoubtedly create buzz and excitement around the Unova-themed sequel. They deserve to be part of the expanded lore and thrilling gameplay that come with being featured in a Pokemon Legends game. Most importantly, their inclusion would establish a strong connection between Unova and the region of their original generation. However, it’s crucial to keep in mind that this prediction is purely speculative, as we’re basing it on just one game. Game Freak may surprise us with a different direction for the next Pokemon Legends game, and that’s part of the fun!

Pokemon Legends: Arceus is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch, so if you haven’t embarked on this epic adventure yet, what are you waiting for? Get ready to explore the untamed wilderness and write your own legend in the Hisui Region!
