PlayStation 5: Themes – The Missing Piece of the Puzzle
PlayStation 5 fans, rejoice! The console has been receiving a ton of updates, fulfilling many of the long-standing requests from players. We got the Discord voice calls, the 1440p VRR support, and even a nifty folder feature to keep our games organized. But there’s still one missing piece from the puzzle: themes.
Themes, oh sweet themes! They were the cherry on top of our gaming experience. We could download themes based on our favorite PlayStation exclusives, third-party releases, and even movies and TV shows. These beauties not only adorned our menus, but they also came with delightful music. Alas, while the PS3, PS4, and even the PS Vita embraced this feature, it seems like the PS5 missed the memo.
But why, you ask? Well, the current UI of the PS5 simply doesn’t play well with themes. While PS4 users had the luxury of admiring Gustavo Santaolalla’s Last of Us theme or Yoji Shinkawa’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Zombies Chronicles theme, the PS5 UI is a bit more…restrictive. It fills up the screen with game information, trophies, playtime, and friends’ lists, leaving no room for customization.
Imagine hovering over Diablo 4 and being bombarded with messages, trophies, and gameplay resumes. Sure, we get some sweet music from the game, but what if we want to appreciate the art and music of a game we don’t have downloaded? Plus, the screenshots and art used for game sections on PS5 don’t quite have the same vibrant charm as proper themes, especially those dynamic ones with moving pieces.
But fear not, fellow gamers, the demand for themes on PS5 is still alive and kicking! Social media is filled with requests and desires for this feature. And who knows, Sony might listen and give us a small UI update that makes themes viable again. It might be a lot of effort on their part, but we can dream, right?
- Ghost Recon: Breakpoint: Top SMGs, Ranked
- Destiny 2 glitch makes latest dungeon easier
- Disney to remove iconic element in future Star Wars movies
Perhaps, instead of being greeted by the Explore page every time we boot up our consoles, Sony could add a themes tab as our starting point. Or better yet, place themes at the top of the Explore section so we can still catch up on gaming news while enjoying our favorite franchise’s artwork. There are plenty of ways to make it work, and we hope Sony considers bringing back this highly requested PS5 feature soon.
So, let’s cross our fingers, keep tweeting, and hope that our cries for themes are heard. Because a little splash of customization goes a long way in making our gaming experience truly personal.
