Remnant 2: Weapon Upgrades Guide

How to Upgrade Weapons in Remnant II

If you want to take enemies down faster in Remnant II, you’re going to need to upgrade your weapons. However, upgrading isn’t as simple as just spending scrap and iron. There’s a whole system at play here, so let’s dive in and break it down.

The Upgrading Process

To upgrade your weapons in Remnant II, you’ll need to visit Rigs in Ward 13. Each weapon upgrade will require a specific amount of Scrap and a particular type of Iron. The Iron types and their corresponding upgrade levels are as follows:

Iron Type Max Upgrade Level
Iron +5
Forged Iron +10
Galvanized Iron +15
Hardened Iron +19
Simulacrum +20

To fully max out your weapon at +20, you’ll need to acquire Simulacrum, a rare item found once per biome. Simulacrum is also used to upgrade your Relics, so use it wisely!

The Secret Behind Material Drops

Now, here’s where things get interesting. The material drops you receive are not purely random. In the early stages of the game, you’ll mostly find standard Iron because your weapons haven’t been upgraded much. However, as you upgrade each individual item, you’re also increasing your total Weapon Level.

Your Weapon Level is an average of the levels of your three equipped weapons, which include two guns and a melee option. Higher Weapon Levels lead to more frequent drops of new tiers of Iron. So, to ensure you receive the next tier of Iron, you must consistently maintain the levels of all three weapons.

If any of your weapons fall behind in upgrades, you’ll continue to receive drops of lower-tier Iron until you catch up. In fact, until you reach specific Weapon Level thresholds, you won’t see any higher tiers of Iron at all.

To check your average Weapon Level, open “Advanced Stats” on your Character tab. Keep an eye on it and aim for an overall Weapon Level that qualifies for the upgrade tier of the Iron you need. For example, if you want Galvanized Iron, ensure that both your guns and melee weapon are upgraded to at least +10.

Conclusion

Now that you understand the behind-the-scenes mechanics of weapon upgrading in Remnant II, you’re well-equipped to take on any challenge. Remember to carefully manage your resources and maintain a balanced Weapon Level. Happy upgrading, and may your weapons be ever sharp!
