With socialization and relationships at the very center of The Sims 4, it’s no surprise that being more charismatic will take you further! Whether you’re trying to woo a potential partner, seeking to make some new friends in your neighborhood, or working your way toward a promotion, people skills will always be in high demand.

In our guide, we’ll walk you through how to build your Charisma in The Sims 4, as well as explain why you might want to make it a priority, with a whole host of smooth new interactions waiting by the time you’ve maxed the skill.
What Does Charisma Impact?
In a social game like The Sims 4, it’ll come as no surprise that charismatic Sims have an easier time in social situations than their less-graceful counterparts.
Since you build Charisma with each conversation, it’s likely that most of your Sims will end up with at least a little charm before the end of their lives, but charismatic Sims build relationships easier.
As you increase your Charisma in The Sims 4, you’ll notice your Sim having more success in social interactions – jokes land better, flirting is viewed more favorably, and mischief is more likely to succeed.

How To Build Charisma In The Sims 4

Talk The Talk: Engage In Conversations
Since Charisma is a major element of socializing, it’s no surprise that talking to other Sims is the best way to earn Charisma skill.
No matter the kind of interaction, simply interacting with another Sim offers a boost to your Charisma. And as we mentioned above, the more Charismatic you are, the easier socializing becomes.
You’ll unlock new social interactions as you advance through the skill that are exclusive to Charismatic Sims.
Study Up: Read Charisma Books, Then Practice In The Mirror
It’s probably not the best way to build the Charisma skill, but, like every other skill in The Sims 4, Charisma books can be purchased either from the bookshelf or online.
Your Sim will take the time to read the book, and gain Charisma based on the level of the book they’re currently on.
Additionally, though it’s definitely not the case in real life, you can also talk to yourself in any mirror to practice your speech.

It’s typically labeled in your menu as “Practice Speech,” but depending on your mood or progress in the skill, the prompt for practicing may change.
You might also see “Practice Storytelling” or “Practice Epic Story” while your Sim is Confident, or even the chance to “Practice Pick-Up Lines” if they’re feeling Flirty.
While these are both reliable ways to boost your Charisma, you don’t get the relationship boosts that come with practicing on other Sims.
The pro of working on your Sims 4 Charisma in either of these ways, though, is that you don’t need another person around if you want to practice on your own time.
