“Spider-Man 2 Trailer: A Deep Cut Cameo and the Venom Debate”
Insomniac Games’ San Diego Comic-Con 2023 trailer for Spider-Man 2 had fans buzzing with excitement. Not only did it showcase epic battles with villains like Venom and Kraven the Hunter, but it also contained a super niche reference that only true Marvel aficionados could spot.
Reddit exploded with posts from fans who caught the hidden gem in the trailer. Among the bustling fairground scenes, eagle-eyed viewers noticed a ferris wheel proudly displaying the name “Big Wheel.” Yes, you heard that right! It’s a clever nod to the classic Spider-Man villain, Jackson Weele, and his not-so-intimidating monowheel.
For those unfamiliar with this lesser-known baddie, Jackson Weele is a corrupt businessman who made his debut in 1978’s Amazing Spider-Man #182. His brilliant plan to take on the Rocket Racer involved commissioning the Tinkerer to create a gigantic armored monowheel. Needless to say, things didn’t go according to plan, and Spider-Man had to save the day, albeit at the cost of Big Wheel plunging into the Hudson River.
The Reddit threads lit up with excitement. “Big Wheel for Spider-Man 2 confirmed,” screamed one post, filled with pure exhilaration. Another user chimed in, proclaiming Big Wheel as the “GOAT Spidey villain.” Who would have thought that a monowheel could take the spotlight?
But amidst the Big Wheel frenzy, Venom seemed to steal the show. The trailer left little room for debate about Venom’s appearance, putting all speculations to bed. Fans reluctantly shifted their attention from the monowheel shenanigans to pondering the true identity of this iconic symbiote.
