Stargate: The Ori - Who are they?

The Sinister and Hilarious Adventures of the Evil Ori

Once upon a time in the adventurous world of Stargate SG-1, the brave team from Stargate Command found themselves facing off against the Ori, a power-hungry civilization that believed they were gods. These guys really knew how to cause a cosmic ruckus!

Who Were the Ori & Where Did They Come From?

Long, long ago, in a galaxy not so far away, the Ori were part of the Alteran species. But like all siblings, they couldn’t agree on anything! The Alterans split into two groups: the Ancients, who were all about science, and the Ori, who thought religion was the way to go. Talk about sibling rivalry!

Not content with simply disagreeing, the Ori decided to wipe out their Ancient brethren. As a result, the Ancients high-tailed it to the Milky Way galaxy, thinking that would be a safe hiding spot. But no, the Ori still had a bone to pick with them! These guys just can’t let things go.

Both the Ancients and the Ori ascended to a higher plane of existence, gaining all sorts of fancy powers and knowledge. The Ancients used their newfound abilities for good, while the Ori saw themselves as omnipotent deities. Talk about letting the power go to your head!

What Was The Ori’s Goal?

Once the Ori ascended, they decided it was time to spread their religion called Origin. According to the Ori, they were the only creators of life in the entire universe. To spread the word, they created a squad of brainwashed humans called Priors. These guys went around preaching the Ori gospel like cosmic telemarketers.

And boy, did the Ori love a good power trip! They discovered that the more people believed in them, the stronger they became. It’s like they were charging up on cosmic energy with each new follower. Must be nice to have your ego boosted by a bunch of gullible aliens!

To sweeten the deal, the Priors promised their converts eternal life through Ascension. But surprise, surprise, this was just a big fat lie! The Ori had no plans to share the secret to Ascension with anyone. They wanted to keep all the godly glory to themselves and crush their Ancient rivals, the Ancients.

If anyone refused to drink the Origin Kool-Aid, they were executed by the Ori Army. Let’s just say these guys were not cut out for a career in actual warfare. But hey, who needs military training when you have faith and the power of a false religion on your side?

How Were the Ori Defeated?

In a stunning turn of events, the Ori decided to take their show on the road and invaded the Milky Way galaxy through a Supergate. They thought they could convert the Milky Way too. These guys really needed a hobby!

The Ancients, despite all their wisdom, had a strict non-interference policy and didn’t want to get involved in combat. What a bunch of pacifist party poopers! Luckily, one clever Ancient named Merlin anticipated the Ori threat and created a weapon capable of killing ascended beings. Too bad it got destroyed, but hey, at least we still have Merlin’s beard to remember him by!

After a wild goose chase, the Ori’s power was transferred to their leader, Adria, who turned out to be quite the pain in the butt. But fear not, brave SG-1 stepped up to the plate and unleashed the Ark of Truth. This nifty device revealed the ugly truth about the Ori and their plans to anyone who looked into it. Talk about a truth bomb!

With their followers enlightened, the Ori’s reign of religious fanaticism came crashing down. The galaxy let out a collective sigh of relief as the Ori were finally banished from Stargate SG-1 forever.

So there you have it, the epic tale of the Ori – a mix of cosmic power grabs, religious brainwashing, and the power of friendship always triumphing over evil. Stay tuned for more interstellar hijinks and adventures from your favorite Stargate heroes!
