Hey there, fellow gamers! So, I have a confession to make: I am terrible at Dark Souls games. I mean, seriously bad. But guess what? I actually beat Armored Core 6! Yes, you heard it right! The self-proclaimed bad gamer managed to conquer this mech mayhem extravaganza. How, you ask? Well, let me share some hilariously audacious moments with you.
To be frank, there were a few occasions when I thought my time with FromSoft’s latest masterpiece would end up like my usual experiences with Soulsborne games: struggling, failing, and moving on to something easier (you know, like growing a plant or knitting a sweater). But then, in a desperate moment, when all hope seemed lost, I decided to unleash my inner coolness.
It sounds simple, right? Just do the coolest thing possible in the game. And let me tell you, it worked like magic! Armored Core 6 seemed to silently scream at me, urging me to follow this epiphany. And oh boy, did it make a difference, especially during those mind-numbing boss battles.
Let’s talk about the tutorial’s XXXL helicopter first. This thing is more than just a helicopter; it’s practically a warship taking up your entire field of view. At first, I tried hiding behind nearby buildings, taking potshots whenever possible. But you know what? It was pathetic, and it definitely wasn’t fun. So, I had an anime-inspired epiphany: Why not challenge this behemoth to a sword fight? Yes, you read that right! My tiny mech facing off against a giant death machine with a damn sword. And guess what? I emerged victorious!

- NetherRealm might be planning a Mortal Kombat 1 sequel.
Now, let’s take a moment to appreciate the infamous Balteus fight. Hours went by, countless missiles raining down on me, frustration building up. But then, I had an idea. The coolest idea possible. Instead of evading those missiles, I decided to rush right into them. And lo and behold, it actually worked! The missiles detonated behind me, seemingly confirming that the developers had intended for me to do this all along.
“Doing the coolest thing possible” doesn’t always mean charging headfirst into something bigger than you. It could mean dunking rockets into a boss’ basketball hoop-shaped head, or even transforming your mech into an unstoppable tank, slowly rolling down factory corridors, obliterating everything in your path.
Armored Core 6, for me, is the warmest welcome of all FromSoftware games. Why? Because it understands that this mecha fantasy is different from the masochistic ardor of Soulsborne games. In Armored Core, you’re not a feeble human ready to die; you’re the pilot of a mech armed with enough firepower to rival a small nation. Embrace that power, my friends, and you’ll conquer this game with style and finesse.
