Lightroots are your guides in the dark underground of The Depths. Activating a Lightroot will illuminate the area on your map, making navigation much easier.
But wait, there’s more! Lightroots also serve as handy warp points, just like Shrines on the Surface. So not only do they light your way, but they also make traveling around The Depths a breeze.

Don’t worry about the challenge of finding Lightroots. They are strategically placed near important structures and areas you’ll frequently revisit, such as Forges, Mines, and boss battle rematches.
When you stumble upon a Lightroot, simply walk into the light and interact with it to activate. It’s as easy as that!
And here’s a bonus – Lightroots can also heal any broken hearts caused by Gloom. Just stand beneath a Lightroot and watch your hearts return to their former glory.
Connecting Lightroots to Shrines
Did you know that each Lightroot in The Depths corresponds to a Shrine on the Surface? With 120 Shrines on the Surface and 120 Lightroots in The Depths, this connection allows you to use Shrines to find Lightroots, and vice versa.
The names of each Lightroot and Shrine are the same but spelled backward. For example, the Marakuguc Shrine outside of Goron City matches perfectly with the Cugukaram Lightroot beneath it in The Depths.
So, while you’re exploring The Depths and come across a Lightroot, don’t forget to check your Surface map to see if you’ve unlocked the corresponding Shrine. It’s a great way to keep track of your progress!
