Do you want to cook up some powerful meals in Tears of the Kingdom? Well, then you’re in luck because I’ve got some great tips for you! Herbs and flowers can pack a punch when it comes to enhancing your abilities and giving you that extra boost you need. Swift Violets are one of those special flowers that can give you the edge you need, but they can be a bit tricky to find. Don’t worry, though, because I’ve got you covered!

Swift Violet Locations
Swift Violets can be found in the Hebra Mountains, Tabantha Frontier, and the Gerudo Highlands. If you’re following the “Regional Phenomena” main quest, you’ll pass through Tabantha Frontier and Hebra Mountains for “Tulin of Rito Village.” This means you can start farming Swift Violets early in the game. How convenient is that?
Gerudo Highlands
The Gerudo Highlands is a frigid place, but don’t let that stop you. Head to the northern cliffs of the Gerudo Highlands, specifically Hemaar’s Descent. You can reach this area by going north from the Gerudo Summit. Just pass by Mystathi’s Shelf, and you’ll find Swift Violets growing on the walls. Just make sure to dress warm or bring some cold-resistance elixirs.
Hebra Mountains
If you venture up to the Hebra Mountains, you’ll find Swift Violets around -4070, 3183, 0183. They like to grow in the snowy regions, so make sure you’re prepared with level 2 cold-resistance. You can reach this area by launching yourself from the Rospro Pass Skyview Tower (-3684, 2343, 0233). Time to bundle up, adventurer!
Tabantha Frontier (Tanagar Canyon)
Another great spot to look for Swift Violets is in Tanagar Canyon, located around -2790, 1641, 0122. It’s on the other side of the canyon, north of the Hyrule Ridge Chasm (-2461, 1129, 0162). Just head east from the Lucky Clover Gazette or Oromuwak Shrine (-3079, 1618, 0243), and you’ll find these lovely flowers waiting for you.

Where to Buy Swift Violets

If you’re not in the mood for a hike or just want to stock up on some Swift Violets, you can buy them at the general store in Zora’s Domain. Each Swift Violet costs 40 Rupees, so if you want a bundle, get ready to shell out 120 Rupees. Just remember that the store restocks every 24 hours of in-game time. You can pass the time by waiting at a campfire or resting at an inn. Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy Swift Violets!
Swift Violet Farming Tips

Farming Swift Violets can be a breeze if you keep a few things in mind:
Cold-Resistance
Some of these precious flowers grow in dangerously cold areas, so make sure Link has some level 2 heat resistance. You can buy the Snowquill Set in Rito Village to stay warm. If that’s not an option, cook up a spicy meal with ingredients like Spicy Peppers. Don’t forget that equipping a flame weapon, like a Ruby-fused melee weapon or shield, can also help fight off the chill.
Stamina Recovery & Stamina Wheels
Swift Violets love to grow in high places, so get your climbing gear ready. Make sure to have Stamina Elixirs on hand or even the Climbing Gear to make your ascent easier. Upgrading your Climbing Set to level 2 will save you stamina when jumping while climbing. You’ll also want to have more than one stamina wheel if you’re exploring areas like the Gerudo Highlands. Climb like your life depends on it, because it just might.
Camera & Sensor+
Take advantage of the Camera and Sensor+ abilities. If you have the Camera, snap a picture of a Swift Violet to add it to your Hyrule Compendium. With Sensor+, you can track the nearby locations of these precious flowers. Can’t find them? You might want to consider getting these handy abilities.
But what if you’re missing out on these abilities? Don’t fret! Here’s what you need to do:
-
Unlock the Camera from the side quest called “Camera Work in The Depths.” Visit Lookout Landing after activating the first Skyview Tower and speak to Purah and Josha. Follow Josha to Robbie, speak to either one of them, and start the “Camera Work in The Depths” quest. This will give Link the Camera and add it to his abilities and the Hyrule Compendium.
-
Complete one of the “Regional Phenomena” quests, like “Tulin of Rito Village,” “Yunobo of Goron City,” “Sidon of Zora’s Domain,” or “Riju of Gerudo Town.” After that, go back to the Great Plateau and enter The Depths from one of its Chasms. Get the Auto-Build Ability from the Great Abandoned Central Mine, show it to Josha, and repair Robbie’s hot air balloon with Auto-Build. Speak to Robbie, and he’ll inform Link that he’s heading back to the Ancient Tech Lab in Hateno Village.
-
Once Robbie is in Hateno, visit him at the lab to unlock the side quests for improving the Purah Pad. One of these quests is “Presenting Sensor+.” Take a picture of a monster and show it to Robbie to receive the Sensor+. And voila! Now you have the abilities you need.
Where to Use Swift Violets

Swift Violets are not just pretty flowers; they can also be powerful ingredients for cooking. When tossed into a pot, they grant a hasty effect, giving Link a temporary boost in movement speed. These versatile flowers can also be used to cook special meals for upgrading horses when given to Malanya.
But wait, there’s more! You can fuse Swift Violets to your weapons and arrows, but don’t expect them to pack a punch. With a Fuse Power of 1, they won’t do much damage. Instead, you might want to consider using them for cooking or grinding them up to make purple dye at the Kochi Dye Shop in Hateno Village. Fashion-forward and delicious!
Perhaps the best use for Swift Violets is to save them for armor upgrading. Completing the “Serenade to a Great Fairy” side adventure at Woodland Stable unlocks the armor upgrading feature in Tears of the Kingdom. To begin this adventure, speak to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette, just before the bridge to Rito Village, and start the “Potential Princess Sightings!” side adventure.
There are four Great Fairies in Hyrule, and each one has its own quest to restore its fountain. If you want to max out your armor level, you’ll need to restore all of the Great Fairy Fountains. Swift Violets can be used to upgrade various armor sets, including the Sand Boots, Snow Boots, and Climbing Set.
Here’s a handy table with the details:
| Armor Set | Level | Defense (per Armor Piece) | Required Materials (per Armor Piece) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sand Boots | ★★★★ | 20 | – 10 Swift Violet – 5 Hearty Lizard – 5 Molduga Guts |
| Snow Boots | ★★★★ | 20 | – 20 Swift Violets – 2 Naydra’s Scale |
| Climbing Set | ★★★★ | 20 | – 20 Swift Violets – 10 Fire Keese Wing |
The Sand Boots and Snow Boots are not part of armor sets, so you can skip upgrading them unless you need stronger boots for desert and snowy regions. The Climbing Set has a Set Bonus, but it can be obtained by upgrading each piece to ★★/level-2. Each piece requires 20 Swift Violets, for a total of 60 Swift Violets to max out the Climbing Set. Keep in mind that other armor sets have a higher defense than 20, such as the Champion’s Leathers or the Armor of the Wild.
So go out there, adventurers, and gather those Swift Violets! Don’t forget to stock up on elixirs, upgrade your gear, and enjoy the wonderful world of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for Nintendo Switch. Save Hyrule and have a blast!
