Hades 2: Confirmed Returning Characters

Hades 2: Lightning in a Bottle Strikes Again!

Hades 2

Somewhat of a phenomenon when it first came out, the original Hades is widely considered to be one of, if not the best Indie game of 2020. The first Hades captured lightning in a bottle with its vibrant art style, addictive roguelike gameplay loop, great character designs, and excellent voice performances. And now, get ready for the sequel that’s going to give it a good go – Hades 2!

In Hades 2, players will step into the shoes of Melinoe, the daughter of Persephone, on a mission to find and defeat Chronos, the Titan father of the gods who has just escaped from his cell in the underworld. With a fresh context, Hades 2 promises to continue the core themes of its predecessor while introducing new mythological characters and a few familiar faces.

Despite being announced back in December 2022, not much information has been revealed about Hades 2 yet. Fans are eagerly awaiting the game, fueled by the brief trailer shown during the Game Awards. But fear not! We can still piece together some details about the game’s main story and the characters Melinoe will encounter on her epic journey.

The central plot of Hades 2 revolves around the god of the underworld himself, Hades. But this time, it’s Melinoe’s task to break him out of jail. Chronos, Hades’ Titan father, has chained him up. The extent of Hades’ role in the sequel is still unclear, but we know he’ll make an appearance, and that’s enough to excite fans!

Another familiar face confirmed for Hades 2 is none other than Zeus, the leader of Olympus. Just like in the first game, Zeus will offer a variety of Boons to the player. Prepare to harness the power of lightning once again as Zeus aids Melinoe in her quest to prevent Chronos from wreaking havoc on Mount Olympus.

While Hades and Zeus are the only returning characters confirmed so far, it’s highly likely that we’ll see many more in the final game. With the threat of Chronos looming over Olympus, it’s only natural that other mythological gods will join the fight. Poseidon, Hermes, Athena, Artemis, Ares, and Aphrodite may all lend their unique abilities to aid Melinoe. And who knows? There’s even a popular fan theory that Zagreus, the protagonist of the original Hades, will play a major role in the sequel, running the underworld in his father’s stead. But for now, let’s keep that speculation in check.

So get ready, because Hades 2 is currently in development, and it’s shaping up to be another electrifying adventure in the world of gods and monsters!

If you haven’t played the original Hades yet, what are you waiting for? It’s an absolute blast!
