So, you’ve made it to the halfway point of Lies Of P! That’s cause for celebration, but hold your party hats because instead of throwing a bash, the game is about to throw you an ass-whooping! And the Mad Donkey isn’t the one you should be worried about. Brace yourself, because this is going to be a tough two-stage fight against not one, but two different foes. But fear not! With this guide by your side, victory is within reach, even if you have to take a few punches along the way.

The King Of Puppets’ Attacks
When it comes to the King of Puppets, his primary attacks involve swinging and slamming with his massive arms. And when he spins, get ready for a fist slam at the end of the rotation. You’ll want to Perfect Guard this attack, but be prepared because he usually follows it up with another one. Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, the King might decide to whip out a gun and lay some mines. Make sure to dodge his swings, especially during this minefield moment.

During the second phase of the battle, the King gets even more creative. He extends his arms, turning them into spinning propellers. If you’re close, just focus on attacking his feet while he flails. But if you’re far away, play it safe and keep your distance. When he inevitably flails both arms together, seize the opportunity to run behind him and strike.

Watch out for the King’s turbine attack! When he plants himself down and starts spinning, get as far away as possible to avoid taking damage. And when he decides to stroll around while spinning, keep your distance. Tricky moves indeed!
The King isn’t done yet. He’ll flip around the arena, performing flying kicks or another round of arm swings. You can dodge or Perfect Guard these, but it’s best to just stay away and admire his acrobatics.

The King Of Puppets’ Furious Attacks

When the King of Puppets gets furious, he slams himself face-first into the ground and swings his arms all around. Sneak behind him during this attack and unleash your fury with multiple strikes. He also has an unblockable flail, so if you’re not behind him when he starts, it’s best to make a run for it.
The King Of Puppets Strategy

The King of Puppets follows the traditional Souls boss style, with highly telegraphed attacks that are perfect for rolling through. Just be careful not to miss your rolls, or you’ll pay the price in heavy damage. His giant arms can reach you from quite a distance, so maneuver wisely.
One important thing to note is that you shouldn’t Perfect Guard every attack. It goes against your instincts, but the King’s wide swings are actually better to dodge through, giving you more opportunities to strike. Watch out for his spinning slam attack, as it’s begging to be Perfect Guarded. After he completes a full spin, prepare to guard and quickly land an attack in between his subsequent slams.
Second Phase

When the King starts crying, it’s a sign that he’s about to flail his arms around. This marks the halfway point of the battle, so create some distance between you and him. Watch out for his arm-flailing while he walks toward you. If you’re within range, attack his ankles. Otherwise, dart in the opposite direction.
If the King starts glowing red, take cover behind him and strike as he flails on the ground, vulnerable.
The King’s Two Turbine Attacks

The King of Puppets has two turbine attacks. If he plants himself down, maintain distance because this attack is only effective up close. But when he spins his arms around, you want to get in close. Unleash fully charged attacks on him while he spins away, just be careful not to get hit by the whirlwind.
Romeo’s Attacks

Romeo, the second half of this crazy duo, comes at you with a series of combo sequences that can drain your stamina and break your guard. Perfect Guard might help, but his timing varies, and his attacks are lightning-fast. Beware of his eyes turning red, as it signals an attack that will yank you forward. You can block it, but the second part will still get you, so dodge away!
When Romeo is at a distance, he likes to throw his scythe in your direction. But if you keep circling around him, you’ll typically avoid this attack.

Romeo’s signature move involves sprinting around you, leaving a trail of fire, and then leaping in for the kill. Dodge the leap and counter with a quick combo. If Romeo leaps forward and hesitates, get ready to dodge again, as he’s about to deliver an upward thrust.

Romeo’s Furious Attacks

Romeo’s Furious Attack is an invincible heel kick. He balances on the edge of his scythe for what feels like forever before delivering a devastating kick. This move gives you a chance to Perfect Guard if you’re up for it, but it’s easier to run away and avoid it altogether.
During the second phase, Romeo prefers the aerial route and leaps into the air to perform a flying kick. Simply run away, and you’ll be safe.
Romeo Strategy

Fighting Romeo can be maddening, but fear not! With the right approach, he becomes extremely manageable. The key is to run. Don’t bother blocking or going for Perfect Guards—just keep your distance. Circle around him, avoiding his scythe throw like a graceful dancer.
Eventually, Romeo will try to match your running skills with his own sprinting attack. Dodge it and seize the moment to strike while he momentarily recovers.

Keep up this strategy, and you’ll gradually wear Romeo down. But be prepared for his second phase, in which he lights his scythe on fire. As soon as you see this, unleash a charged heavy attack to disrupt his big move. If you fail to do so, run for your life, as your best bet is to evade the entire attack. Once he finishes his fiery frenzy, get back to keeping your distance and dodging his lunging attacks.
Rewards for Slaying The King of Puppets and Romeo

Your hard work and perseverance will be rewarded with some loot! You’ll obtain the Burnt-White King’s Ergo, Puppet Prince’s Formal Dress, and Someone’s Necklace. Oh, and if you fancy the scythe Romeo was using, you can trade the Burnt-White King’s Ergo for it at Alidoro’s shop. Sweet!
Congratulations on defeating one of the toughest encounters in the game. You’re one step closer to victory!
