In the vast open-world of Starfield, with over 1,000 planets waiting to be explored, creating your own base is an exciting prospect. And that’s where Outposts come in! These personal areas allow you to build your own house, extract resources, and even provide storage space. Let’s dive into the world of Outposts and make your galactic dreams come true!
What Are Outposts?
Outposts are your private havens in Starfield. Once you set up an Outpost on a planet, you’ll have a personal space to land on whenever you visit that planet again. Think of it as your very own home away from home. Need a place to relax, store your loot, or set up a crazy science experiment? Outposts can do it all! Just keep in mind, you have a limited number of Outposts to place, so choose wisely. Don’t worry, though, your skills can help you increase that number!
How To Set Up Outposts
Finding the perfect planet for your base is key. The type of planet you choose depends on what you want to do with your Outpost. Want a cozy home? Look for beautiful planets without dangerous conditions. Want to mine resources? Find planets or moons bursting with the minerals you need. Once you’ve found the right planet, it’s time to find the perfect spot for your Outpost. Remember, location is everything! If you want to extract resources, placing your Outpost near multiple resource veins is a must. So grab your scanner and start scouting!
How Do Outposts Work
Once you’ve placed your Outpost, it’s time to get building! Your Outpost’s range is highlighted in yellow in Scanner mode, indicating where you can construct your buildings. But here’s the catch: you’ll need to upgrade your Outpost Engineering Skill to unlock better buildings. Enter the Outpost screen and switch to Build Mode to start constructing. From power sources to crafting items, you’ll need resources to bring your creations to life. Keep an eye on your resource count and get creative!
How To Customize Outposts
Once you’ve built your Outpost, it’s time to make it truly yours. Need to move a structure? Easy! Just get close to it, hold the “Quick Menu” button, and voila! You can now move it anywhere you want. But that’s not all. Output Links are your secret weapon for efficient resource management. Set up links to move resources between structures like a pro. And if you change your mind and want to remove an entire Outpost, simply get close to the main structure, long press the “Remove or Rename” button, and watch it disappear (along with everything else in its range).
