Super Mario RPG Armor Guide

Mario and Bowser in Super Mario RPG

During your adventure in Super Mario RPG, you’ll face plenty of challenges: enemies shaped like weapons thirsty for blood, weird ladies and chunky birds with suspicious intentions, gigantic Piranha Plants with razor-sharp teeth, and a ton of Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and Shy Guys. The usual stuff.

Nonetheless, the game always has your back with armor shops to prepare you for these hurdles. Without armor, Mario and his buddies would be toast. Thankfully, as the enemies get tougher, the armor available for sale gets sturdier, perfectly matched to the point in the game when you find them.

How To Get The Super Suit And Lazy Armor

Super Suit and Lazy Shell

Aside from the fantastic Work Pants, which we’ve already covered, there are two special pieces of armor that the entire party can share: the Super Suit and the Lazy Shell.

Super Suit

Chow in Monstro Town

To get your hands on the coveted Super Suit, you’ll need to head over to Monstro Town and face a challenge posed by a friendly K-9 named Chow. Chow kindly asks you to perform 100 Super Jumps without fail. If you manage to achieve this impressive feat, you’ll be rewarded with the Super Suit. Land those jumps and suit up!

Super Suit +50 Attack / +50 Defense / +30 Speed / +50 Magic Attack / +50 Magic Defense Everyone

Lazy Shell

Hidden note in Nimbus Land

The Lazy Shell armor set is an incredible find accessible during your time in Nimbus Land. As you climb up Bean Valley, keep an eye out for a mischievous Beezo (or a flying Shy Guy) watering a stuck Piranha Plant in a pipe. Give that pipe a good jump, and you’ll find yourself in a battle against Smilax.

Once you defeat Smilax, you’ll notice that Beezo flies away, leaving behind a note stuck in the nearby wall. Investigate the note to obtain the Seed. But that’s not all; you’ll need another item called Fertilizer.

Now, make your way to the east of Nimbus Land until you hit an invisible wall. Keep pushing forward while walking until you stumble upon a hidden area with an invisible floor. Look who you’ve found again – it’s Beezo! He’s not eager to be stomped by Mario this time and will reward you with the Fertilizer.

Climbing the beanstalk to the Lazy Shell

With Fertilizer in hand, it’s time to head to Rose Town. Once there, venture north and discover an entrance leading to a new zone with a single house. That humble abode belongs to the gardener. Hand over the Seed and the Fertilizer to the gardener, and watch as a massive beanstalk sprouts before your eyes.

Climb the beanstalk and open the two chests waiting for you at the top. Inside, you’ll find the incredible Lazy Shell armor set – one chest holds the armor, while the other contains a weapon. It’s time to gear up with ultimate protection!

Item Stats User Price
Lazy Shell -50 Attack / +127 Defense / -50 Speed / -50 Magic Attack / +127 Magic Defense Everyone

Now that you’re armed with this knowledge, go forth and deck out your party in the finest equipment available! May your armor shield you from every peril in your quest to save the Mushroom Kingdom!
