Elder Scrolls VI: The Long-Awaited Epic Adventure

Can you believe it? It’s been a whopping five years since the announcement of Elder Scrolls VI. Yeah, you read that right, five whole years! While Bethesda has been busy working on Starfield, the next big thing, Elder Scrolls VI has been patiently waiting in the wings. Will we ever get to see it? That’s the burning question on everyone’s mind – Did Bethesda announce Elder Scrolls VI too early?

In a recent interview with GQ, Todd Howard, the mastermind behind Bethesda’s games, shared some insights into the making of Starfield. But of course, he couldn’t escape the inevitable question about the timing of Elder Scrolls VI’s announcement.

Howard pondered for a moment and said, “I ask myself that a lot. I probably should’ve announced it more casually.” Ah, hindsight, the greatest gift of all.

But what can we expect from Elder Scrolls VI when it finally arrives? Howard played coy, but still managed to tease us with a glimmer of hope. “It’s like… I don’t want to spill the beans, but I also want to be polite. Let’s just say we want it to be the ultimate fantasy-world simulator. Given the time that has passed, we have different tricks up our sleeves.”

It’s true, RPGs have come a long way since Skyrim took the gaming world by storm. From the jaw-dropping technological marvels of Cyberpunk 2077 to the immersive world of Baldur’s Gate 3, developers have pushed the boundaries of what’s possible. Even Disco Elysium has made them reevaluate how they approach the genre. It’s an exciting time for all!

Now, don’t get too excited just yet. We’ll have to wait a while before we can immerse ourselves in the wonders of Elder Scrolls VI. Todd Howard revealed that it will launch before the next major Fallout installment, and although he hinted at a mysterious code name, he’s keeping it locked away for now. But hey, fans suspect it could be set in Hammerfell. Fingers crossed!

In the meantime, while we wait patiently for Elder Scrolls VI, Bethesda is getting ready to unleash Starfield on September 6. Be sure to check out the opening mission and our exclusive Gamescom interview with the legendary Phil Spencer.

Stay tuned, fellow adventurers! The journey of Elder Scrolls VI is on its way, and it’s bound to be an unforgettable experience. Will you be ready? Taylor Lyles, reporter extraordinaire at GameTopic, signing off.

If you can believe it, Elder Scrolls VI was announced five years ago. Since then Bethesda has been focused on Starfield, with Elder Scrolls VI remaining in pre-production. It’ll be years before we ever see it. That begs the question: did Bethesda announced Elder Scrolls VI too early?

That was the question put to Bethesda’s Todd Howard in a new interview with GQ. In addition to shedding light on the making of Starfield, Howard took a moment to reflect on the Elder Scrolls VI’s original 2018 announcement.

Asked whether he announced it too early, Howard says he asks himself that a lot.

“I don’t know. I probably would’ve announced it more casually,” Howard said.

Howard was also asked what he would like to achieve with Elder Scrolls 6 when it eventually gets released.

“It’s like… I don’t want to answer, but I want to be polite. I will say that we want it to fill that role of the ultimate fantasy-world simulator,” Howard said. “And there are different ways to accomplish that given the time that has passed.”

Indeed, RPGs have come a long way since the release of Skyrim, or even since Elder Scrolls VI’s initial announcement in 2018. In the past five years we’ve seen the release of impressive technological accomplishments such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3, both of which feature huge and reactive worlds. Elsewhere, the likes of Disco Elysium has led developers to fundamentally reconsider their approach to the genre.

One way or another, it’ll be a while before we see Elder Scrolls VI for ourselves, though we do know it will launch before the next major installment of Fallout. Howard says that it has a code-name, but he won’t share it. Fans think it will be set in Hammerfell.

In the meantime, Bethesda is preparing to launch Starfield, which is scheduled for release on September 6 on Xbox Series X|S and PC. For more, check out what happens in Starfield’s opening mission as well as our big Gamescom interview with Phil Spencer.
