So, you’ve reached the Starfield First Contact mission and now you’re faced with a tough decision. Do you buy a Grav Drive or are you more inclined to blow things up? Well, fear not, my fellow gamers, for I have laid out all the options and their consequences for you.

The Consequences: Grav Drive, Settlement Deal, or Total Annihilation?

The First Contact mission in Starfield gives you two clear choices. But for those who are morally bankrupt (you know who you are), there’s also a secret third option to consider – just blow up the ship! But let’s explore each choice in more detail.

Option 1: Buy a Grav Drive

This is by far the best option for pretty much everyone, unless you have a strange affinity for destruction. When negotiating with CEO Oliver Campbell, choose the option of buying a Grav Drive and convincing the colonists to settle elsewhere. You’ll need to pay 40,000 credits upfront, or if you’re persuasive enough, you might lower the cost to 25,000 credits.

Once you have the Grav Drive, head to the Constant’s Engineering room and complete three tasks on the ship’s computers. Don’t worry, there are no consequences for getting them wrong, so just go for it! After that, Captain Diana will reward you with Earth antiques to sell and an XM-2311 pistol. Plus, you might even encounter the Constant later in the starfield and have the opportunity to complete some fetch quests for them.

Option 2: Take the Settlement Deal

This option benefits the executives of Paradiso the most, but it’s not a bad choice overall. Choose the dialogue option to convince the colonists to take the settlement deal when speaking to Oliver Campbell.

Once you’ve convinced Diana on the Constant to work at Paradiso, you’ll need to gather resources for the colonists. It’s a bit tedious, but gather 10 Lithium, 80 Iron, 20 Sealant, and 40 Fiber. While the rewards aren’t as exciting as in the Grav Drive option, you’ll at least receive the same Earth relics and pistol. Unfortunately, Oliver won’t reward you for your efforts, so no need to bother with him.

Option 3: Overload the Reactor

If you’re feeling particularly villainous, this option allows you to blow up the Constant. However, be warned that it’s not very rewarding and can upset your current companion. Choose the dialogue option about overloading the reactor with Oliver Campbell.

To proceed, you’ll need to pickpocket Amin Kazemi for the ECS Constant Reactor Terminal Key, then access the Reactor Terminal and choose the ‘EMERGENCY REACTOR OVERDRIVE’ option. You’ll also need to hack the Captain’s Bridge Computer to confirm the request. Once you’ve triggered the alarm and everyone turns hostile, make a swift escape back to your ship and enjoy the show as the Constant goes up in flames. As a reward, Oliver will give you 6,500 credits, but don’t expect anything if you try to negotiate for more.

Conclusion

In the end, the choice is yours, my adventurous gamers. Will you buy a Grav Drive, take the settlement deal, or be the galaxy’s biggest troublemaker by blowing things up? I trust that you’ll make the right choice and have a blast playing the Starfield First Contact mission.
